Born in Texas, 1959. Extensive shows at a number of galleries such as Gagosian, Sperone Westwater, Ikeda, Diacono, Bischofberger and Barquet. Museum exhibitions include ICA, Boston in 1989, Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht & MARCO, Monterrey in 1992-93 as well as the Arts Club of Chicago in 1995. In his work he blends the esthetic and cultural influences of the USA and Mexico. Ray Smith is married with two children. They live in New York City and Cuernavaca, Mexico.
